Water and flood damage is something we all wish we could avoid. However, this residential and commercial disaster is very common. At Restoration Authority, we know that these terrible events disrupt normalcy. We want to help you return back to normal as quickly and easily as possible. Our team achieves this by using the latest technology to ensure safety. A big part of water and flood damage restoration is the dehumidification process. Desiccant dehumidification is a top of the line dehumidification machine that provides quick and safe dehumidification.

What is Desiccant Dehumidification?

Simply put, it is when a moist air is sucked into a desiccant dehumidifier through a duct and the water is removed from the air. Then the “dry” air is release back into the home or business while the “wet” air is push out of the building. It is normally moved out of the building through a duct and out a window.

What Happens within the Dehumidifier?

As the air enters the machine through a duct, the moisture is absorbed from the air into desiccant materials. These desiccant materials are similar to the materials found in those little white bags you find in new shoes or other products. The  desiccant materials chemically bond with water molecules, removing them from the air. The “dry” air exits the machine from a fan pushing it back into the home or business.  The bonded water and desiccant materials are then moved by a rotor to a heater. Next, the heater warms the bonded water and desiccant materials. This causes the water and desiccant materials to part ways. The water is then in the air. This “wet” air is then blown through ducts outside.

Why would I want Desiccant Dehumidification after Water and Flood Damage?

Quick and Total Drying

When quick and total drying is the desired outcome, a desiccant dehumidifier could make all the difference. Desiccant dehumidifiers make sure the job completed on time. These machines are very quick.  They are used while the Restoration Authority team is working on other parts of the water and flood damage restoration process.

Environmentally Friendly

These desiccant dehumidifiers are more environmentally friendly than other commercial size dehumidifiers. Most dehumidifiers use the cold to remove the water from the air. This requires refrigerant to cool off coils for the water to condense on. The refrigerant contains one of the major greenhouse gases that traps heat in the atmosphere. Desiccant dehumidifier are the better choice.

Quiet

Desiccant dehumidifiers use a small motor to move the air and the rotor. Other commercial size dehumidifiers use loud compressors.

Very Light

Because desiccant dehumidifiers use a small motor, they can be light weight and easy to move.

Low Maintenance

Since other dehumidifiers use the cold to remove the water from the air, they cannot be used when it is cold. However the desiccant dehumidifiers is used in any temperature.

At Restoration Authority, we want to give you the best service possible. That is why we use technology like desiccant dehumidifiers. We only use the best because you deserve the best.
