Top-5-Fall-Roofing-Upkeep-Tips

When it comes to roofs many have an out-of-sight-out-of-mind approach, but neglecting your roof can end up costing you big in repairs. The National Roofing Contractors Association recommends that you inspect your roof every fall and spring.

Here at Huuso, we want customers to get the most of their roofs.

Five roofing tips we recommend for homeowners

1 Clean your gutters of any leaves or debris. Gutters full of debris can get clogged causing water to pool in the gutters and spill over which can lead to rotting.
2 Inspect your shingles to check for any curling, buckling, or loose shingles. These are signs that your shingles need to be replaced.
3 Trim trees that overhang your roof before it starts to snow. Snow and ice can build up on branches causing them to break damaging your shingles or putting a hole in your roof.
4 Install gutter guards, which are metal screens that are placed over your gutter. These metal screens act as a barrier keeping leaves and debris out of your gutters.
5 Check your insulation. Proper insulation and ventilation in your attic protect your roof by preventing ice dams from forming and reducing moisture.

Making roof maintenance apart of your regular fall maintenance routine not only saves you from costly repairs, but it also extends the life of your roof. A well-maintained roof can last you up to 25 years.
